“WOMAN’S EYE BLACKENED"
A woman removed her sunglasses at Paddington Court to-day and showed Mr Sutherland, SM, a black eye, which her solicitor (Mr JW Binney) said was equal to anything seen in the prize ring.
John Dalziel Bevin, 42, clerk, was charged with assaulting Barbara Khamis Row at Double Bay on January 21.
Mr Binney said that Mrs Row was also under medical attention for a “breach of Marquis of Queensberry rules,” namely, a kidney-punch. She had lost a week’s work and her job.
Bevin was ordered to pay £2 10s costs and £4 compensation, and was ordered to enter into a recognisance of £20 to be of good behaviour for 12 months.”
