OLD MAN IN THE DOCK
———
After leading an irreproachable life for seventy-six years, James Hay found himself in the dock at the Parramatta Quarter Sessions yesterday.
He was charged with having committed an indecent assault on a boy [John William O’Donnell, 12 years] at Penrith.
He pleaded guilty.
Mr Hardwick, who appeared for Hay, described it as “a technical offence.”
Hay was given a most excellent character by some of the most prominent citizens of Penrith.
One declared that Hay was looked on as one of the best citizen in the town.
The accused was bound over to come up for sentence if called on within two years.
