SERIOUS OFFENCE PROVED

TWO MEN GIVEN CHANCE TO
REFORM
————

James Edward Hearn and Ernest Edward Peter Fletcher, were found guilty at the Darlinghurst Quarter Sessions, before Judge Scholes, and a jury, on a charge of being jointly concerned in an offence of an unmentionable character. Accused were represented by Messrs E and J Abigail.

His Honor said that no one could have any sympathy with the men in what they had done. He was reminded at the same time that up to the present both had borne good characters. Fletcher had served his country 4 in the best possible way during the war, and the other had tried to. The law had been vindicated, and he proposed to put both prisoners to a very severe test. They would be bound over in the sum of £50 each to come up for sentence within a period of two years if called upon.
