ALLEGED INDECENCY.
William Larkin was charged with indecent behavior within view of Slag Street. He pleaded not guilty, and was defended by Mr AF Edwards.
Constable Chamberlin detailed the alleged offence, and evidence for the prosecution was also given by a 10-year-old girl.
Defendant went into the box, and denied the charge, also giving an explanation of his doings on the date in question.
The magistrate held the charge proved, and sentenced accused to 14 days’ imprisonment in Broken Hill Gaol, but on the representations of counsel, decided to suspend the sentence under the First Offenders’ Act , and ordered accused to enter into his own recognisance of £40, to be of good behavior for 12 months.
