Hon Austin Chapman Federal member, speaking at the Berry show luncheon last Wednesday, referred to the necessity for an irrigation scheme to serve the Illawarra district. They had in the Shoalhaven one of the finest rivers in the Sate, and it would be easy to have it dammed and the area flooded in Illawarra. They were close to the metropolis, and well within the fresh food zone. A proper irrigation scheme was all that was required to make it one of the best districts in the whole of the State.

A charge of indecent assault against two men—[George] McDonald and [Charles] Murphy – was investigated by PM, Fitzhardinge, at the Court, yesterday. At the conclusion of the Crown case McDonald was discharged, there being absolutely no evidence against him Murphy was committed for trial to the next Wollongong Quarter Sessions. How McDonald ever came to be arrested passes comprehension, for the complainant [Roy Nicholas Watson] exonerated him from any participation in the alleged assault.

The work will be put in hand as soon as possible, and will probably be completed within two months.
