Tuesday, October 2.
(Before His Honor Judge Docker.)

ALLEGED ASSAULT.

Charles Thompson, a man between 30 and 40 years of age, described as a laborer, was charged with assaulting a young man named Eli David Evans at Campbelltown on 16th September last, where they camped together.

After evidence had been given for the prosecution, accused went into the witness-box and denied that he had assaulted Evans, that the latter had trumped up the charge to get even with him for a row they had.

Evans denied that there was any row at all.

The jury, after being absent from Court two hours and a half, returned with a verdict of not guilty. The foreman stated that the jury were of opinion that there was not sufficient evidence to convict accused.

    Accused was then discharged.
