Shortly before leaving for Europe on his extended leave Sergeant Murray deposited his very valuable collection of specimens from Broken Hill, White Cliffs, Burra Burra, etc., in the West Maitland Technological Museum for display to the townspeople during his absence. The specimens were obtained in the early days of “the Hill,” and are very rich in lead, copper, silver, zinc, etc. A fine piece of the rare Magpie opal is included, besides other varieties from White Cliffs. Apart from its educational value the collection is very beautiful, resembling a handsome jewel case, with the sparkle of the brilliantly-coloured ores.
