“SHOCKING”

Boilermaker Sent to Gaol
————

Charged with obscene exposure in Centennial Park yesterday, Richard Purseglove, 45, boilermaker, was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment in Maitland gaol by Mr Perry, SM, at Newcastle Police Court to-day.

Shocking details of Purseglove’s conduct was given by Sergeant Borthwick, who, with a constable, hid behind a hedge and watched. Little girls, he said, were interfered with. “It is the worse case I have ever experienced,” said the Sergeant.

“It is a filthy case to listen to,” said the Magistrate. “A man of your years to do a thing like this seems to have no moral sense. To accost girls as you did is shocking.”
