Henry East, arraigned on a charge of indecently assaulting a male child aged 11 years, was found guilty, and in passing sentence, His Honor said “I have not much to say to you, because anything I could say, and anything that the decent members of any community could think of you would only increase the abominable surroundings of your offence. One thing I thank God for is that you are not an Englishman, and I now pass the full measure of sentence allowed by the law, that is, five years penal servitude in His Majesty’s prison.”
