THE FLOODS.
————
THE FLOOD AT WEE WAA.
…
His last communication is dated Feb 2 , and he says:—After my last the water still kept rising until about twelve o’clock on Thursday night, when it had reached within about two inches of the last June flood. It fell very slowly all day on Friday, but by Saturday morning the water had receded from off the town, leaving it, however, in a most pitiable state. Before the flood, the grass was spring up beautifully, but it is now covered with rubbish and mud. Could we but get a good shower of rain now it would wash the grass, and stock would be able to eat it. Although all the houses in town were surrounded by the water, it did not flow over the floor of any excepting Senior-constable Doherty’s dwelling, the school-house, the post-office, and the court-house,—another good reason why a new court house should be build, for the foundation has sunk so low in the ground that if there was a much higher flood I very much doubt if the records of the court would be safe.

The weather is getting chilly, but, as yet, we have had no wintry blasts.
Whooping cough and a very bad type of eye disease are, unfortunately, very prevalent here.
CRICKET.—On Thursday last (Queen’s Birthday) our young club played their late antagonists, the Narrabri Young Albions, at Narrabri, and, strengthened by the presence of their captain, won by 37 runs. Wee Waa Rosebuds, first innings 65; Narrabri Young Albions, first innings 27. Rosebuds, second innings 52; Young Albions, second innings 53.
It is hoped that either front or rain will speedily fall as a check to the spread of diseases.
Bricks are being made for the new court-house, Mr J Facer is also erecting a building to be used as a telegraph office.
